Make sure you use this super food not only in the kitchen but also in your beauty regime.
Use as a hair mask
- Coconut oil is amazing as a natural hair mask. Simply use a large dollop and apply from root to tip.
- Tie up hair in a super tight bun, and leave for two or three hours
- Untie hair and leave coconut oil in for a wavy wet-look or wash out to add extra moisture back into your locks.
TIP: Coconut oil is a creamy solid at room temperature, and turns to a liquid at 24,5 degree Celsius. Before adding oil to hair make sure it is not too solid. Warm it up by running the bottle under warm water until it reaches the right consistency.
Use as a body cream
Simply lather skin with a coin size amount of oil for each limb. For maximum effect, apply immediately after you’ve jumped up of the shower so the oil can really sink into your warm skin.
Use as a lip balm
Use an old lip balm container and pop in some coconut oil once it is solid, then apply to lips as desired. An added bonus is it smells great too!
Use as a make-up remover
Use about half a teaspoon of liquefied cream to a cotton pad and massage into area with make-up. A great tip from health.com is to make your own coconut oil makeup remover wipes:
“Melt 1 teaspoon of coconut oil per round cotton pad in a microwave-safe container. Then, lay the cotton pads in an even layer and let them soak up the oil overnight. Store them in the same container or in a plastic baggie and throw them in your carry-on or gym bag for easy makeup removal on the go.”
Use as a cuticle cream
Apply a small amount directly onto dry and cracked cuticles. The coconut oil is great for hydrating your nails and cuticles and if applied to your hand too, it acts as a mild sunscreen – bonus!
