33 Information Product Ideas and Types

For some reason, lots of internet marketers struggle when it comes to product creation. I don’t know if it’s a lack of confidence or a lack of ideas for different products. Regardless, this article will solve both of those.

Below, you’ll find a list of 33 information product types you can create or have created. Keep in mind, there are options below for you if you have your own knowledge to share with the world or if you want to leverage the knowledge of others.

I highly recommend you print out this list and refer back to it any time you’re stuck thinking of a new product to create, a bonus to add, an upsell or downsell to incorporate, etc.

In no particular order:

1. Audio Monologue - like an MP3 of you speaking.

2. Audio Interview - a recording of an interview you did with an expert.

3. Audio Roundtable Discussion - a sort of mastermind discussion done with recognized experts sharing their secrets.

4. Audio CD

5. Audio CD of the Month - see below for some ideas of what you can do here.

6. CD-ROM/Data CD - you can have various files you give away, including things like spreadsheets, templates, checklists, etc.

7. Online Video

8. DVD - if you can create online video…. which you can… you can easily create DVDs that have a higher perceived value.

9. DVD of the Month - below are some sample ideas for what your monthly DVD could be.

- power point
- look over your shoulder

10. Multi-media Package (DVD, CD, Transcript) - you could have a monthly package consisting of a DVD, CD, and transcript. This is something I do in 2 different niches right now. We charge $97.00 a month and it’s a really nice package.

11. Membership site (multi-media) - your typical membership with articles, audios, etc.

12. Membership site (just videos) - something that’s recently become popular is a membership site with just video content.

13. eBook - some ideas below for creating an ebook.

- transcript
- article compilation (think about a book of articles from other experts)
- user-submitted content (Think Chicken Soup For The Soul)
- directory listing
- vendor listing

14. Physical book - today, it’s extremely simple and inexpensive to have a book printed. This could even be a binder.

15. Book of the Month Club - you could charge people to be part of a club where you interview the author of the monthly book, record it, and share it with your customers. You could even give away your notes or mindmap after reading the book.

16. Home Study Course - a big package of stuff.

17. Digital Newsletter - you could have a monthly newsletter that distribute as PDF

18. Physical Newsletter - a monthly publication you mail to customers

19. Personal Coaching - one-on-one coaching with customers over the phone

20. Group Coaching - training and education done with several people

21. Teleseminar - see below for different types.

22. Teleseminar Series - several Teleseminars sold as a package

23. Webinar Training - just like a Teleseminar only done with power point slides or live screen capture
24. Webinar Series - several Webinars sold as a package

25. Tele-Mastermind - this is where you get several like-minded customers on a conference line and have each share their best practices. I’[ve done this several times and customers love it.

26. Live Mastermind - same as above just done live
27. Field Trips - examples include taking dentists to see a successful dental office, real estate investors to see a live transaction, etc.

28. Live Presentations - any type of live event (i.e. seminars, conferences, bootcamps, etc.)

29. Software, scripts or tools - this is anything customers use that make their lives easier

30. Critique Case Studies - you could offer critiques of customers websites, businesses, advertisements, etc., record those critiques and sell them. You could even offer a whole product of just critques.

31. Pre-loaded MP3 player - you could easily put your audio content on a branded MP3 player and ell it at a higher price point.

32. Package of mindmaps, process maps, checklists, templates - customers love these things.

33. Package of pre-done materials (i.e. advertisements) - there’s more money in giving customers the fish rather than teaching them to fish
